Our Story

The Community for Global Innovation was founded by Alcorn Immigration Law and  Donations are received by Welcoming America, a 501(c)(3) that promotes social entrepreneurship to make the United States more inclusive toward immigrants and all residents.  

We partner with Welcoming America as this nonprofit supports newcomers of all backgrounds to feel valued and to fully participate alongside their neighbors and to expand welcoming internationally.

Sophie Alcorn

Sophie believes in overcoming borders, expanding opportunity, and connecting the world. She is recognized by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Certified Specialist Attorney in Immigration and Nationality Law and is one of the 10 best immigration lawyers in California. She contributes to TechCrunch and is the host of the podcast Immigration Law for Tech Startups.  She is a Stanford grad and has been seen in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Business Insider, The Financial Times, and Teen Vogue.

The founder of Alcorn Immigration Law, her firm received the 2019 Women’s Business Enterprise Award and is the 2020 Top Immigration Law Firm for Startups in California.

Sophie is passionate about empowering entrepreneurs and their teams to build their dreams and scale their companies for the betterment of humanity. She believes that everybody deserves a chance.

David Valverde Vargas

David Valverde Vargas was born in Costa Rica and moved to Germany at the age of seven. He came to the U.S. as an international student. David attended Rollins College and University of Utah, majoring in International Trade and Commerce and minoring in Computer Science. David’s fascination with artificial intelligence and software led him to meeting his co-founders at Grabb-it. They participated in YCombinator’s Summer ‘18 batch and moved to Silicon Valley. David is now the founder of, the proprietary broadcast system converts your car windows into transparent HD displays. Pranos’ GRID is an ecosystem where drivers can opt in to earn as they drive through the ad revenue generated on their displays. Pranos aims to create many jobs through the growth of the gig economy.
